Gallary Wall

I've been wanting to do a gallary wall
in our new reading room
and finally finished it last night
(well finished in the sense the frames are up)

I tried a few different set ups on the floor

Then we put them all up

Here are a few of my favorites

My new window sign I made
I love the old charming feeling it gives the room

Some of the frames still need pictures
I've asked our families for a picture
of our grandparents (as in Scott and I's)
from when they were younger
hopefully in black and white
I just love old photos
and how they always seem to tell a story

Happy Easter

This is what I get when I try to get them to smile & say cheese :)

& this is just all them :)

Don't mind Nolee
she had a fever of 103 (molars)
so it was easy to get her to sit still
but not so easy to get her to smile
the poor girl!

I don't know why but she reminds me
of Larry the Cable guy in this next pic...

Another Way to Make Easy Signs

I saw a new way to make signs online the other day
(for the life of me I can't find where now)
and I decided I had to give it a try
It's even easier than the method I used on my EAT sign

I printed out my phrase in Word in the font & size I wanted
Grabbed a board I had sitting out in the garage
(after I spray painted two coats of white on it)

Then I turned the letters around and used a pencil
to shade all over the back of the them

Then I flipped my letters back over
placee them where I wanted on my board
(still wondering if this would work on walls too...)
and traced/outlined my letter on the paper with the pencil
When I was done and lifted my paper up
I had an outline of my letters
(if you enlarge the picture you can see it better)

Then I just filled in the letters with my paint

And then I sanded it down gently to mask any mistakes I made :)

And that's it!
I know this has probably been around for ages
but it's new to me and I'm so happy I found it
since a Sillhoutte is probably not in my near future :)

Oh and this is what we saw outside our back window last night
Ugh

Yup that's hail/sleet/rain mixture
Come on Spring - please hurry up!!

Free Fireplace Renovation

So do you remember the free fireplace I picked up on the side of the road?

Well this weekend it was so cold here
we didn't get to go outside at all
and since we were basically going stir crazy
we moved a bunch of rooms around

The front living room
which we just made into the dining room
is now the reading room

The dining table was moved into the kitchen
and the kitchen table was moved down to the craft room
No more working on the floor for me!

Anyway I also had a chance to redo the fireplace

Once we rearranged the furniture
in the reading room
I knew we had the perfect spot for it
Plus when I think reading room
I think bookshelves
cozy couches
and a fireplace

First we had to position it in the room
to make sure it went okay
and of course the girls thought
it was super fun to play in

How cute are they!

Once we decided it would fit
we dragged it back out to the garage
and I started the process
 of "making it more us"

I primed
painted two coats of creamy white
distressed it heavily
and added a glaze of dark walnut stain

and now we have this...

And here it is all lit up :)
Now I just need to grab a book
and a hot cup of coffee
(oh and move it from the garage
back into the house)
