So do you remember the free fireplace I picked up on the side of the road?
Well this weekend it was so cold here
we didn't get to go outside at all
and since we were basically going stir crazy
we moved a bunch of rooms around
The front living room
which we just made into the dining room
is now the reading room
The dining table was moved into the kitchen
and the kitchen table was moved down to the craft room
No more working on the floor for me!
Anyway I also had a chance to redo the fireplace
Once we rearranged the furniture
in the reading room
I knew we had the perfect spot for it
Plus when I think reading room
I think bookshelves
cozy couches
and a fireplace
First we had to position it in the room
to make sure it went okay
and of course the girls thought
it was super fun to play in
How cute are they!
Once we decided it would fit
we dragged it back out to the garage
and I started the process
of "making it more us"
I primed
painted two coats of creamy white
distressed it heavily
and added a glaze of dark walnut stain
and now we have this...
And here it is all lit up :)
Now I just need to grab a book
and a hot cup of coffee
(oh and move it from the garage
back into the house)

Beautiful transformation! Although, I think it's best look was with your two precious kiddos peeking out from it. :) Becca

ReplyDeleteOMG. Are you girls hysterical or what!? They seem so carefree and happy! Good job, mom! The fireplace looks awesome. Do you ever want to take the 'after' pics back to the house where you got the trash to treasure and show them what they missed out on!? I always think about that, but I don't because I think I would appear quite rude. lol Anyway, great redo and even cuter girls.;)

How do you make a glaze with stain over paint? I love this transformation you made and would love to paint an old desk I have using this technique of stain over paint.
